Malaga airport to city centre: train, bus, taxi and Uber
How to get from Malaga airport to the city centre, Pedregalejo, Torremolinos or Benalmádena: C-1 train, A Express bus, taxi, Uber/Cabify and private transfer, with times and prices.
Nordik Team · Updated onTo get from Malaga airport to the city centre, the quickest and cheapest option is the C-1 commuter train (Cercanías): about 12 minutes to Málaga Centro-Alameda for roughly €1.80. If you'd rather not haul suitcases through stations, the EMT A Express bus (€4) drops you at the Alameda and Paseo del Parque, and a taxi costs roughly €20–27 depending on the time of day.
The Nordik team welcomes guests arriving at Malaga airport practically every day, so this guide sums up what actually works: which option to choose for your destination (Centre, Pedregalejo, Torremolinos or Benalmádena), how much it costs and how long it takes. Prices and timetables change often: treat them as approximate and check the official websites we link to before you travel.
Malaga airport to city centre: quick summary
Málaga-Costa del Sol airport (AGP) is about 8–10 km from the historic centre, within the city of Malaga itself. All transport departs from floor 0, in the arrivals area, and it's well signposted: train, buses, taxis and the pick-up car park.
- C-1 commuter train: about €1.80 (zones 1-2), 12 min to Centro-Alameda, every 20–30 min.
- A Express bus (EMT): €4 single, around 25–40 min depending on traffic, roughly every 20–30 min.
- Taxi: from €18.24 (minimum fare on weekdays during the day) up to about €27 to the centre depending on time and traffic.
- Ride-hailing (Uber, Cabify or Bolt): fixed price in the app, varies with demand.
- Private transfer: driver waiting with a name sign, fixed price booked in advance.
C-1 train: Malaga airport to the city centre by rail
Renfe Cercanías line C-1 Málaga Centro – Fuengirola stops at the airport, with the station linked to the arrivals area. Heading into Malaga, it stops at Victoria Kent and María Zambrano (high-speed AVE and bus station, about 8 min) and terminates at Málaga Centro-Alameda (about 12 min), five minutes' walk from Calle Larios and Soho.
Approximate train times from the airport
- To Málaga Centro: first train around 06:40 and last just after midnight (around 00:50).
- To Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola: first train around 05:30 and last around 23:40.
- Frequency: every 20 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes early in the morning and at night.
These are guide times: Renfe adjusts services during Holy Week, the August Fair and engineering works. Check them at renfe.com before you fly.
Ticket price and how to pay
A single ticket between the airport and Málaga Centro, Torremolinos or Arroyo de la Miel costs about €1.80 (zones 1-2 fare); to Fuengirola it's around €2.70. Buy it from the station machines by card or cash. The discounted 2026 travel passes are personal and designed for residents, so as a visitor you'll normally buy a single or return ticket.
Local tip: if you're staying in Soho, the Alameda or El Perchel, get off at Centro-Alameda. If you're heading to Trinidad or northern El Perchel, María Zambrano may suit you better depending on the street.
A Express bus: Malaga airport to the city centre
EMT's A Express line leaves from floor 0 in arrivals and runs via Velázquez, Huelin, the bus station, Alameda Principal and Paseo del Parque. It's a good option if you're heading near the Alameda, Paseo del Parque or La Malagueta, or if there's a long gap until the next train.
- Price: €4 single, pay on board by bank card or cash, or with the EMT app. No extra charge for luggage.
- Hours: runs roughly from early morning until midnight, with the odd late-night departure depending on the season.
- Frequency: roughly every 20–30 minutes; less frequent at weekends and on public holidays.
- Journey time: 25 to 40 minutes to Paseo del Parque, depending on traffic.
Heads-up: in October 2026 EMT has temporarily moved the Paseo del Parque terminus because of works and events. Always check the current status at emtmalaga.es.
Taxi from Malaga airport: approximate fares
The taxi rank is right outside arrivals. Taxis leaving the airport apply specific fares with a minimum fare set by the city council (fares updated in March 2026):
- Weekdays 06:00–22:00: minimum fare €18.24.
- Nights, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays: minimum fare €22.48.
- Weekend and public-holiday nights, and night-time during the Fair and Holy Week: minimum fare €25.80.
- Surcharges: €0.58 per suitcase in the boot and €2.23 between 00:00 and 06:00.
In practice, a taxi to central Malaga usually comes to €20–27, more if you're going to Pedregalejo or outside the city. Torremolinos and Benalmádena are separate municipalities, so the meter may apply the intercity rate. If in doubt, ask the driver for an estimate before you set off. All the official information is on Aena's taxi page.
Uber and private transfers: when they're worth it
Ride-hailing (Uber, Cabify, Bolt)
Ride-hailing apps operate at Malaga airport with a pick-up point in the arrivals car park; the app shows you the exact spot. The price is fixed when you book and can undercut a taxi at quiet times or spike when several flights land at once. Compare both options on the spot: there's no fixed rule.
Private transfer
A transfer booked in advance has a fixed price and a driver waiting with a sign. It's worth it if you're travelling with small children, car seats, lots of luggage or in a group of 5–8 (minivan). Also if you land late and want to know exactly what you'll pay.

From the airport to your Nordik stay, area by area
Centre and Trinidad
For apartments such as Oslo, right in the centre, or Reikiavik, with a desk for remote work, the C-1 to Centro-Alameda is unbeatable: you'll be at the door less than half an hour after collecting your bag. To get to know the area before you arrive, read our Malaga city centre guide.
Pedregalejo and the east
Pedregalejo is at the opposite end of the city from the airport. With big suitcases, a taxi or Uber saves you the change; if you're travelling light, take the C-1 to Centro-Alameda and then EMT bus 11, which runs along the seafront towards El Palo. That's the route for places like the Tromsø apartment in Pedregalejo.
Torremolinos and Benalmádena
Here the train wins hands down: the C-1 towards Fuengirola gets you to Torremolinos in about 10 minutes and to Arroyo de la Miel in about 20. Very handy for the Nuuk apartment in Torremolinos or Rovaniemi in Benalmádena, with a desk and room for five.
Common mistakes when leaving Malaga airport
- Taking the train in the wrong direction. The platform serves two directions: Málaga Centro and Fuengirola. Check the display before you board.
- Relying on the last train when your flight lands late. A 30-minute delay and you've missed the C-1. We cover this in detail in arriving late at night in Malaga.
- Getting off at María Zambrano when you're heading to Soho. Centro-Alameda is one stop further and saves you a 15-minute walk with your suitcase.
- Not having a card on you. The machines and the bus take cards, and having one ready speeds everything up.

FAQ
How much is the train from Malaga airport to the city centre?
A single commuter train (Cercanías) ticket between the airport and Málaga Centro-Alameda costs about €1.80 (zones 1-2 fare). Buy it from the machines at the airport station, by card or cash. The journey takes about 12 minutes and trains run every 20–30 minutes. Check the current fare on renfe.com, as Renfe reviews it every year.
Is there a night bus from Malaga airport to the city centre?
EMT's A Express line runs until around midnight and in some seasons keeps the odd late-night departure. After that, the reliable option is a taxi or Uber. Check the day's timetable at emtmalaga.es or in the EMT app before you fly, especially if your flight lands after 23:00.
Can I pay by card on the Malaga airport bus?
Yes. On the A Express line you can pay the €4 fare by bank card as you board, as well as in cash or with the EMT app. Suitcases travel free. At peak times the bus can be full, so if you have a lot of luggage the train is usually more comfortable.
How long does a taxi from Malaga airport to Torremolinos take?
In normal traffic, about 15 minutes. The fare is roughly €20–28 depending on the day and time, because taxis from the airport apply a minimum fare of €18.24 on weekdays during the day, and more at night or on public holidays. The C-1 train covers the same trip in about 10 minutes for around €1.80.
Where do you get an Uber or Cabify at Malaga airport?
Ride-hailing cars pick up in the designated car park area next to arrivals, not at the taxi rank. The app shows you the exact point and bay number once the driver accepts. When lots of flights land at once, surge pricing can make it dearer than a taxi, so compare before confirming.
